The Alpha Program is a welcoming and engaging series of interactive sessions designed for anyone curious about life’s big questions – like purpose, faith, and meaning.
Whether you’re exploring spirituality for the first time or revisiting your beliefs, Alpha offers a relaxed, judgment-free space to connect with others, share your thoughts, and hear different perspectives. Through thought-provoking videos and open conversations—often over a meal —Alpha invites you to explore the Christian faith in a way that’s honest, inclusive, and deeply personal.
We are by the church and for the church
Alpha began at a church called Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) in London in 1977, it was taken by Nicky Gumbel in 1990 and repositioned as a course for those outside the congregation. The number of people attending Alpha at HTB grew quickly into the hundreds and attracted the attention of other churches across denominations seeking to find an effective tool for evangelism.
Now, all over the world, millions of people have tried Alpha and it has been translated into 112 different languages. The Alpha Talks have been repackaged for today’s audience in the Alpha Film Series and the Alpha Youth Series – created to reach a younger generation with the Gospel. Even as times have changed, the Alpha course has continued to be used by the church as an effective tool to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are passionate about unity
The Alpha Course is created to outline the core principles of the Christian faith that all denominations agree on. We believe that what unites us is infinitely greater than what divides us. The Alpha Course is an effective form of evangelism when run by and through the local church. By focusing on the fundamentals of Christianity, it opens the door for Alpha to be used in almost any context so that everyone has the opportunity to engage in discussions and be transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When I was invited to Alpha, I was in the process of doing RCIA and I thought to myself, will Alpha benefit me since the RCIA is quite in-depth program. Nevertheless, me and my wife eventually joined thanks to the persistency of the organiser.
I am glad we take part in the Alpha program. From the very first session, I fell in love with it. It was such a welcoming environment. The video shown was very motivating and it also provides excellent topic for discussion. The discussion group is accommodating; Alpha provides an open environment for participant to share their view. Not to mention the delicious dinner every time.
I enjoyed the Alpha so much that I am volunteering for the next Alpha program.
